The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Arrives, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices

Nintendo and Illumination released the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a new princess and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.

An Interstellar Journey Drawing from Iconic Releases

Similar to the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a popular character from the original cinematic release.

But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow

The film will see the return of the initial voice actors, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

A Significant Period for Mario

The new Mario movie is planned to debut near the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.

The company has a trio of new releases publicly declared for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
